SUSTAINABILITY
TAKES MANY FORMS
Today, operating sustainably is of vital importance. For us, that means ensuring that we consume raw materials and other natural products of the Earth in a way which takes into account the needs of future generations. That means consuming no more than can be regenerated. And in addition to environmental responsibility, it also means social and economic responsibility. At Gefriertrocknung Greven, together with our sister company Freeze-Dry Foods, we have therefore chosen to build our sustainability policy on three key pillars:
Utilise our capabilities, practise fairness, share knowledge.

UTILISE OUR
CAPABILITIES
We view our mission as being to supply the food and pharmaceutical industry with perfectly freeze-dried ingredients. To achieve this, we bring together two key capabilities. Industry provides us with high-quality products for drying. Gefriertrocknung Greven contributes its technology and quality expertise. When all parties bring their capabilities to bear in this fashion, the result is a sustainable process from which everyone benefits.

PRACTICE
FAIRNESS
To us, international fairness is an inseparable component of economic activity. That’s one of the reasons why we are a Sedex member and SMETA-certified, championing responsible, ethical business practices in global supply chains.

SHARE
KNOWLEDGE
Sharing your knowledge with others is a highly sustainable activity. Doing so enables better production, reducing consumption of raw materials and other resources, and reducing environmentally damaging CO2 emissions. We pursue this approach doggedly and support our customers with decades of freeze-drying expertise. Our goal is products that are in harmony with people and nature.

ENERGY POLICY
WE’RE ON A JOURNEY.
CERTIFIED
ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
SYSTEMATICALLY OPTIMISING ENERGY-RELATED
PERFORMANCE ACROSS ALL OF OUR PROCESSES
Freeze drying is an energy-intensive process. You might think, in an era of energy saving and climate change, that there’s simply no place for this type of drying. But a closer look reveals that it’s the gentlest way of drying products to enable long shelf lives, and that it does away completely with the energy consumption associated with cooling fresh products.
Nevertheless, reducing energy consumption, using resources sparingly and using renewable energy in the freeze-drying process are also important. It’s something of which we are very aware. That’s why we’ve voluntarily introduced an energy management system and tailored our processes, activities and systems accordingly.
DIN EN ISO 50001 certification attests that Gefriertrocknung Greven meets all the requirements of this standard and undertakes continuous monitoring and optimisation of its energy consumption.
An interdisciplinary environment team regularly looks for areas where we can make further savings. We have already carried out a number of projects aimed at reducing our electricity consumption. Our objective is to use as little energy as possible.
OUR SUSTAINABILITY
